Bifenazate Mode of Action
Bifenazate is a carbazate acaricide. It acts mainly by contact and is active on motile mite stages. It's known for quick knockdown of spider mites. The compound interferes with mite nerve function, though its exact target site is still debated. It does not control insects or nematodes.
You'll see bifenazate used in rotation with other acaricides. It fits well where spider mite pressure is high. Because it's selective, it can help preserve beneficial arthropods. Always check the label of your registered product for local use restrictions.

- Fruit trees
- Bifenazate is used on pome fruit, stone fruit, citrus, and vines. It targets spider mites during active growth.
- Vegetables
- Tomatoes, peppers, cucurbits, and leafy vegetables are common uses. It controls two-spotted spider mite and other tetranychids.
- Two-spotted spider mite
- This is the main target. Bifenazate works on all motile stages, including nymphs and adults.
- Other mite species
- It also has activity on red spider mite and related species. Check local labels for specific claims.
Formulation and Tank Mix Notes
CHICO offers bifenazate as a suspension concentrate (SC). The current product is BIFOCAL, a 40% SC with bifenazate 25% and etoxazole 15%. SC formulations pour easily and mix well with water. They don't create dust during handling.
Before tank mixing, do a jar test. Check the pH and compatibility of all products. Don't mix with strongly alkaline materials. Add the SC to the tank after the water is already moving. Keep agitation on during spraying. Confirm the final mix with your registrant if you're unsure.
