Quinclorac mode of action
Quinclorac belongs to the quinolinecarboxylic acid chemical class. In rice it acts as a synthetic auxin, disrupting normal cell growth in susceptible weeds. The result is twisted stems, cupped leaves, and plant death. Rice tolerates quinclorac through rapid metabolism.
It's mainly used in rice paddies. It controls certain annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and some sedges. You'll see it in direct-seeded and transplanted rice. Don't expect broad-spectrum control from quinclorac alone. It's often paired with other actives like penoxsulam to widen the weed spectrum.
