What Cyhalofop Butyl Does
Cyhalofop butyl belongs to the aryloxyphenoxypropionate chemical class. It's absorbed by leaves and moves within the plant. The herbicide disrupts lipid synthesis in susceptible grasses, which stops growth.
You'll see this active used mainly in rice. It controls grass weeds after they emerge. Broadleaf weeds and sedges aren't affected by cyhalofop butyl alone. That's why CHICO offers combinations with penoxsulam or metamifop to widen the spectrum.

- Broadleaf and sedge weeds
- Only the OD with penoxsulam mentions broadleaf and sedge control. The EC product is for grasses only.

CHICO offers cyhalofop butyl as an oil dispersion (OD) at 18% with penoxsulam, and as an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) at 20% with metamifop. Both are liquid formulations for dilution in water.
Before tank mixing, check the label of your registered product. Confirm compatibility with other pesticides or adjuvants. Don't mix with products that have high pH or strong oxidizing agents. Always do a jar test if you're unsure. Use clean water and follow local application rules.
