How Emamectin Benzoate Works
Emamectin benzoate is a semi-synthetic derivative of abamectin, belonging to the avermectin chemical class. It acts on the insect nervous system by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which disrupts nerve signal transmission. Affected insects stop feeding quickly and die within a few days.
It is used as a foliar spray on many crops. The compound is active by ingestion and has limited contact activity. It's mainly effective against lepidopteran larvae, but it also shows activity on certain mites and other pests when combined with other active ingredients.
